The
Belgian clarinettist Jean-Luc Votano starts the clarinet to 5
years old with his father and gives his first concert in
soloist to 7 years old. He is principal clarinet of Orchestre
Philharmonique de Liège since 2002 and in the 2005-06 season, he does his debut
musical to the Lincoln Centre of New York (to the Avery Fisher Hall) invited by
Louis Langrée and the Mostly Mozart
Festival.
In
2004, he was named the best young Soloist of the year by French Public Radio
(Belgium, France,
Canada and
Switzerland). He has also won first
prize at a number of international competitions, including the International
Music Competition in Rome (from more than 4000 candidates), Benelux Competition
of the Yamaha Foundation, Ville d'Avray International Clarinet Competition in
Paris, Louis Cahuzac Competition in Versailles and Lion's Club International
Competition in Rome.
At a young age he has also had the pleasure of playing as a concert performer
with orchestras and renowned conductors including Louis Langrée, Armin Jordan,
Yoel Levy, Yuri Simonov, in performances in Italy, France, Denmark, Israel and Belgium. Jean-Luc Votano's passion for chamber music
has led him to perform with such artists as François-René Duchable, John Novacek,
Daniel Blumenthal, Claire-Marie Le Guay, Marie Hallynck, Boris
Belkin, Véronique Bogaerts, The Debussy quartet, the Danel quartet and the
Parisii quartet.
